THE X-FILES Returns, and here’s your first look!

Sorry, I just can’t keep this in any longer!

I haven’t been posting much here, but it’s the freakin’ X-Files! The. X. Files!

This is the show that started my fanfic writing. This is the show that started the “ship” term! Well, at least for me, it did. This is Mulder and Scully! There will never be another like them. And I’m so freakin’ excited I don’t even know what to say anymore.

Just watch and see why Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny still own it!

Now, I’ll admit that I haven’t watched every single episode of the original series, but I can guarantee that I watched every single episode of the series when Duchovny was a regular on the show. It was just never the same after his appearances became scarce. But you’ll be sure that I’ll be watching the revised series once it starts on January 24, 2016.

I know that just because the original creator and the original stars being on the show doesn’t mean it will be at the same greatness as it was more than 20 years ago, but I can’t imagine it being any better with any other actors and talent than the original.  I want to believe this is just going to be the best and it will still be as awesome as it was before.

THE X-FILES To Return with Original Duo and Creator

Mulder and Scully are back!

The X-Files was my first influence into writing fan fiction, and I think those stories are still around somewere in the interverse.  Anyway, it’s been talked about for a long time, and it seems that Fox has decided that it was time to actually do something about it.  They’ve gotten Chris Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson back, which really is the only way to bring back The X-Files.  Sorry, other peeps that were in the later seasons that I can’t even remember your names, but it was always about Mulder and Scully.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Yeah, six episodes.  Well, I guess that’s something.  They just better be really good episodes!

The X-Files ran for about 10 seasons, but those last 3 really didn’t count for much since David Duchovny took his exit around season 7.  They tried to make it work, bringing in two new FBI agents into the fold, but the show was really losing its steam (as you can tell, I was one of them who lost interest.)  Then they had the movies, but unfortunately, it didn’t do as well as they’d hoped.

You could say that The X-Files was what influenced a lot of the popular shows today in pushing the boundaries of content on TV, but it was just also a really standout series.  I don’t know if they’ll be able to stand out as much now on network television, what with cable shows like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad having pushed the boundaries of what to show on the small screen, with even some other network shows, such as Hannibal (which Gillian Anderson appeared in as well.)  But then again, maybe it’s time to see what Carter can do if given more to push.

I was such an X-Phile when it first came out, and I still have some collectibles, of course. I’m excited for this, but at the same time, I wonder if it’s going to have the same appeal as it did during its original run. What do you think?
